🌸 The Gesture of Blooming

The Gesture of Blooming

The idea for this series was born from my constant search to evolve, both in my style and in the way I paint.
I wanted to reflect some of the emotions that accompany many people, and that have also accompanied me. This time, without human figures.
I wanted to tell small stories through flowers and subtle watercolor gestures. 🌼
Sometimes we interpret a stroke or a stain as something accidental, but it isn’t always so.
Many of those “accidents” have a reason.

Series:

Five flowers. Five emotions suspended in time.
They represent a beauty that doesn’t strive to be perfect, but to be true; each piece captures a state of the soul where blooming intertwines with a paused gesture.
Each flower not only evokes beauty or emotion, it makes a clear visual and emotional statement.

1st. Still standing, Magnolia.

Watercolor magnolia painting with soft pink and white petals on a light background by Shienakara, artist Karen Novoahttps://shienakara.art/artwork/watercolor-magnolia-painting/

This magnolia, painted in soft tones and a restrained atmosphere, embodies quiet persistence, dignity that endures even through grey days. It doesn’t impose, yet it never yields.
Some flowers don’t need to fully open to show their strength.✨

The red drop that falls is the invisible thread holding together what cannot be seen: inner strength, unspoken history, tenderness that doesn’t strive to be perfect.

This piece is an invitation to look closely at what still blooms, on its own terms, even under weight.🌺💖

2nd. Aunque el cielo pese – Sunflower

Watercolor sunflower painting with yellow petals and lavender background by Shienakara, artist Karen Novoahttps://shienakara.art/artwork/watercolor-sunflower-painting/

There are flowers that don’t wait for the sun to arrive,  they go looking for it.
These sunflowers face upwards, even when the background feels uncertain.
Splashes of yellow break through the lavender sky, bursts of longing, of vital drive, of something that refuses to give up. ☀️

This piece speaks of an energy that is not euphoria, but perseverance.
Of the quiet longing that pushes without shouting.
Of the light we seek, even when it’s still unseen. ✨

3rd. Aunque no encaje – Tulip blooming

Tulip Watercolor painting with dreamy blue background – Shienakara by Karen Novoa.https://shienakara.art/artwork/tulip-watercolor-painting/

This tulip blooms gently within an atmosphere that doesn’t quite belong to it, a dense, deep blue, as if it were wrapped in a thought or a memory.

There are forms of beauty that seem out of place.
This one is a flower that blooms without permission, without fitting in, and that’s precisely what makes it more true to itself.🌷
A painting about what persists, even when it’s not the time.
Even when it’s not the place.✨

4th. The shape of resilience – Lily blooming

Lily watercolor painting with delicate petals and soft background. Shienakara by Karen Novoa.https://shienakara.art/artwork/lily-watercolor-painting/

This lily opens in silence, with a gentle melancholy, like someone who has learned to bloom while still carrying a knot in their chest.
Its stem stands firm, yet something in its posture speaks of what it has quietly endured.

This piece is about resilience that doesn’t harden.
About the kind of beauty found in holding on, even when there is no certainty.
About what still manages to bloom, even with scars.❤️‍🩹

5th. Blooming without armor – Rose

Rose Watercolor painting – one in bloom and one in bud – with green leaves against a soft gray circle background. Shienakara by Karen Novoa.https://shienakara.art/artwork/rose-watercolor-painting/

This piece presents two roses, each revealing a different version of the same emotion.
One begin to open, timidly, in silence, yet with an undeniable inner strength.

These roses speak of emotional courage, of showing up as you are, without hiding your fragility.
Not flowers that seek protection in order to exist, but ones that find beauty and strength in vulnerability.
Flowers that tremble… and still, they bloom.❤️🌹

Thank you for joining me in this journey through watercolor and emotion. May The Gesture of Blooming remind you that growth can be both delicate and powerful.💖🌟
