This kanji, like many others, has no direct translation. It can be interpreted in many ways: will, motivation, ambition, sense of purpose or personal mission.

It gives direction to our personal or professional life. Kokorozashi can also bring clarity of heart and mind, guide our values and enrich our lives. This piece also contains an Enso circle 円相; this is a circle done with brush in one stroke ink and originally comes from Zen culture. This reflects the artist’s mind at the time of composition by means of a single stroke, so it will be unique to each piece.
